Terms of Service

1. The Service

MeadMate helps home fermenters track brews, log readings and notes, receive reminders, and use AI-assisted insights. Features may change over time as we improve the product.

MeadMate is a journaling and decision-support tool. It does not replace your judgment, laboratory testing, or professional advice. AI-generated suggestions and photo analysis may be incomplete or incorrect. Always follow safe brewing practices and applicable laws.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old and able to form a binding contract to use MeadMate. If you use the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

3. Account registration

You must provide accurate account information and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Notify us promptly at legal@meadmate.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

You may create an account with an email and password or, where available, by choosing Sign in with Google. If you use Google sign-in, you authorize us to receive basic profile information from Google as described in our Privacy Policy. Your use of Google's services is also subject to Google's terms and privacy policies.

4. Subscriptions, trials, and billing

Plans and pricing

MeadMate is paid subscription software with a 14-day free trial. Available plans, pricing, billing intervals, feature limits, and any promotional offers are described on our website and at checkout when you subscribe. Those descriptions form part of your agreement for the plan you select.

We may add, change, or discontinue plans and pricing from time to time. We will provide notice where required by law before changes affect an existing paid subscription.

Free trials and promotions

We may offer free trials or other promotions for paid plans. If a trial or promotion applies to your subscription, its terms — including duration, eligibility, and whether a payment method is required — are shown when you sign up or start checkout. Unless you cancel before the trial or promotional period ends, your subscription may convert to a paid plan at the then-current rate.

Automatic renewal

Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before renewal.

Payment processing

Payments are processed by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize MeadMate and Stripe to charge your payment method for applicable fees and taxes. Stripe's terms and privacy policy also apply to payment processing.

Cancellation and refunds

You may cancel at any time through your account Settings and the Stripe customer billing portal. Cancellation stops future charges but does not automatically refund amounts already paid unless required by law or stated otherwise at purchase. If you cancel during an active trial or promotional period before it ends, you generally will not be charged for that period, subject to the terms shown at signup.

After cancellation or lapse

If you do not maintain an active paid subscription, access to certain features may be limited. Your brew history may remain available in a reduced form, as described on our website at the time, unless you delete your account.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes
• Attempt to access another user's account or data without permission
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or overload the Service except as permitted by law
• Upload malware, infringing content, or material you do not have rights to use
• Misrepresent AI output as professional, medical, or food-safety certification
• Circumvent plan limits, billing, or security controls

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose risk to the Service or other users.

6. Your content

You retain ownership of brew names, notes, photos, and other content you submit (“User Content”). You grant MeadMate a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, process, and display User Content solely to operate, maintain, and improve the Service, including AI features you request.

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit User Content and that it does not violate law or third-party rights. We may remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law.

7. AI features

AI suggestions, insights, chat, and image analysis are provided “as is.” They may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate for your situation. You are solely responsible for decisions you make based on MeadMate or its AI output.

Do not submit sensitive personal information in brew notes or images unless you are comfortable with it being processed by our systems and AI providers as described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Intellectual property

MeadMate and its branding, software, design, and documentation are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or underlying technology except the limited right to use the Service according to these Terms.

9. Third-party services

The Service integrates with third parties such as Supabase, Stripe, analytics providers, and AI vendors. Your use of those services may be subject to their separate terms. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our reasonable control.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MEADMATE DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that fermentation outcomes will meet your expectations.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MEADMATE AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BREW PRODUCT, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID MEADMATE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

12. Indemnification

You will defend and indemnify MeadMate against claims, damages, and expenses arising from your User Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law, except to the extent caused by our negligence or willful misconduct.

13. Termination

You may stop using MeadMate at any time and may delete your account in Settings. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including payment obligations accrued, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and governing law — will survive.

14. Changes to the Service or Terms

We may modify the Service or these Terms. If we make material changes to the Terms, we will provide notice by posting an updated version, in-app notice, or email where appropriate. Continued use after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance unless prohibited by law.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Except where prohibited, you agree that disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that grants mandatory local rights, nothing in these Terms limits those rights.
